The Togouchi whisky is a Japanese blend, that is so unique and unusual as it is aged in a tunnel then blended by the master blenders of Chugoku Jozo, its owner.
Its whiskies are aged in sherry and brandy casks, housed in a mysterious location where the former Japanese National Railways dug as a prospecting tunnel over 387 metres, but was never used eventually.
This no age statement whisky is a very different beast compared to the other two mentioned above. The nose is light and summery with butterscotch and freshly cut grass. This is purportedly a blend 8 Years Old malt and corn whiskey but it tastes like a grain whiskey with more than a passing resemblance to Nikka's Coffey Grain. The palate delivers cor, caramel, pepper and nutmeg with a short sweet and spicy finish.
