Described as a great whisky drinker's whisky, this 15 year old Glenfarclas from the family-run distillery is bottled at 46% ABV simply because the owner's grandfather preferred it that way.
The nose is complex with sherry, peat, butterscotch and a hint of dried fruit. The palate delivers a full-bodied well-balanced sweetness with malty tones and peaty flavours. The finish is long and satisfying with sweet and smoky aspects coming through.
Jim Murray rated Glenfarclas 15 Year Old 95/100 in the 2007 edition of his Whisky Bible, one of the highest ratings he has given.
