The Xtra Old Particular series (XOP) was launched in 2013 and is reserved by Douglas Laing for casks considered to be the "family jewels." This 41-year-old single grain whisky, aged in a refill hogshead. Bottled at natural cask strength – 49.9% ABV – the nose is distinctly fruity, with additional notes of honey. The palate holds a real Americana style, with sweet corn flavours and hints of vanilla, and finishes with buttery toffee flavours.
Bottled in August 2018, this is a fantastically well-aged dram from this closed distillery. One of only 200 bottles drawn from cask #12768.
