The Yamazaki is one of the world’s great single malts, with the 18 Year Old having won more international awards in the past decade than any other whisky in the world. All vintages are world class, and this one celebrates the founding of the distillery in 1923.
The Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve, which was released in Spring 2014, comes with a fresh and fruity whisky from Yamazaki, full of red fruit and a touch of sherry cask. It's also got some mizunara (Japanese oak) matured whisky in the mix, which comes through as a complex spicy and almost incense-like note. A well put together and deep dram from the renowned Japanese distillery.
